Waiting.

I am terrible at waiting.

I would thought my almost 6 years of marriage to Chris would help out in that aspect since he is a little more "leisurely" than I am, but no. I'm still terrible at waiting.

It is bad enough waiting on something that has a definite time frame. For example, knowing that we are leaving the house at 6pm to go to dinner. Or knowing that Lydia needs to be at a birthday party at 2pm. But holy cow, waiting on something that you know is coming but you don't know when exactly is SO INCREDIBLY HARD.

My maternity leave started on Monday, and yes, I am very thankful for the rest time. I honestly don't think I could have made it through another day of work. I was so exhausted when I got home over the last couple of weeks, so being able to take it easy has been a much-needed change of pace.

However.

I am so impatient and cannot wait for this baby to get here! It's silly because I'm not even at my due date yet (it's on Sunday). I know good and well that it could be another week or so before we meet him, but the uncertainty makes me batty.

To help distract myself, I have done the following so far:
-Re-organized our pantry
-Laundry
-Found a temporary new design for this blog while trying to decide what direction to go for a customized desgin
-Played on Pinterest, which I haven't really done in ages.
-Updated my Google calendar
-Watched embarrassing amounts of Dawson's Creek on Netflix
-Started thinking about the shower I am planning to throw for my newly engaged sister
-Made lactation cookies (which are so yummy. I tested one and then put the rest in the freezer)
-Annoyed the heck out of my mom while she's at work with pointless text messages
-Annoyed the heck out of my husband while he's at work with pointless emails

My goal over the next few days is to rest, yet be productive when I have the energy. I know that once the new little one is here, this precious alone time I have goes away, so I need to appreciate it.

A photo update

Below are some pictures of our house, along with Lydia's move up to a big girl bed, and a sweet moment from her outside.

Baby Watch!

We are officially on baby watch around here. I am 39 weeks as of today and so excited to meet our little boy! My maternity leave begins tomorrow, so I have a small list of things to do around the house to keep myself busy. One of those includes making a big photo dump post here to help catch everyone up on what I have been doing lately.

One reason I have been MIA is because we moved! We have been getting settled and love it here. Our new neighborhood is wonderful and we have plenty of room to grow. One of my main sources of stress when Lydia was born (besides, you know, having a newborn) was our house. We had quickly outgrown it, so everything felt cluttered and messy. When we put our house on the market last year, I was so relieved to purge and put things in storage. Chris and I have been working hard to continue purging since moving here. A big part of my post tomorrow will be pictures of this house, including the baby's nursery.

I am looking forward to blogging more and hope I am able to stick with it. I love reading back over my old posts and I want to give this baby as much blog love as I have given to Lydia.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! I hope you have all had a good day. We had a pretty fun time together today. We went to church, had lunch with family, and then Chris, Lydia, and I went to Falls Park to walk around. We also had to stop by Starbucks because today also just happens to be my birthday, and I wanted to get my free drink. Yum! It was beautiful this afternoon while we were out, and Lydia was thrilled to see a bunch of "doggies" taking walks and playing in the park.

Pregnancy #2: Almost 26 Weeks

Since I haven't updated in awhile, I thought I would enlighten you all with a post on how things are going for me, baby-wise. Chris is upstairs, the kid is snoozing, and it may or may not be flurrying outside, so I figured now would be a great time for some blogging.

I am about 26 weeks along (will be tomorrow). Things are going well. I am having awesome heartburn, but I had that the last time around, so it's nothing new to me. Zantac is working for now. My hips and sciatic nerve are causing me discomfort, but I stretch and shift positions when I can. My kids at school know that I am having a painful day when I sit. I rarely sit to teach, so they know it's bad when I have my desk chair out in the middle of things.

Cravings? Why yes. Currently I am loving apples with peanut butter and breakfast foods -- bacon, eggs, toast, grits... I can't get enough. We are going to my in-law's for "brinner" tonight and I am drooling just thinking about it.

Lydia is starting to understand that something is happening. She knows that "brother" is in my tummy. Whether she understands what that actually means is up for debate. She loves babies right now, which is adorable. When we are out, she loves to watch for babies and announce to us when one has been spotted, even if it is across the store.

My last day of school is May 17th. One of my co-workers is pregnant and leaving the same time I am, so we email our daily countdown to each other.

Doctor on Monday, along with the dreaded glucose tolerance test. Hopefully I will pass this one so that I don't have to do the 3 hour test. Bleh!

Babywearing

The little one is coming in a few months, so I have been doing what I can to get ready for him. I haven't gone too crazy yet because we are (hopefully) moving in March. I say hopefully just because it has been a wild, roller coaster of a ride and until we are at closing, I am remaining cautious.

But anyway, I have been thinking about things that I want to do differently with this baby than I did with Lydia. I have different views and goals for nursing him. Unfortunately, my insurance does not cover a breast pump, but Chris and I are both all for me nursing as long as I am willing and able to, so we are purchasing a good quality one. We want to have another baby after this anyway, so we will get our money's worth out of it.

Another thing I am hoping to do differently is babywearing. I wore Lydia as a newborn in a wrap that I made and then here and there in our carrier, which I hate. It is cheap and not comfortable. I have been researching different methods of babywearing and really like ring slings. I like that I can wear a newborn and continue to wear him/her into toddlerhood. My friend Jayne at The Naptown Organizer is doing a giveaway on her blog for a Comfy Joey Ring Sling. I entered and am sharing her info so that you can enter as well!
